The Maine Beaches

We're pretty lucky that The Bracy House is close to some of the prettiest beaches you'll find. Here's four of of our favorites!

Cape Neddick Beach (Passaconaway Beach)
Small, sandy beach at the mouth of Cape Neddick Harbor, adjacent to a slightly kitschy campground—come at low tide to mingle with the hermit crabs!

Ogunquit Beach
A lovely long and deep beach. Part of the beach is located at the mouth of the Ogunquit River and its sandbars create small pools of water that are perfect for the little ones (and those who love warm water.) It gets crowded at the river end so head south to get some sand all to yourself.

Long Sands Beach
A great beach for surfing! Waves break over a sandbar so the beach attracts both beginners and vets. You may have to line up, as this is a popular spot, but you can kill time between rides at Liquid Dreams Surf Shop that overlooks the water.

Laudholm Beach at Wells National Estuarine Reserve
Undeveloped, sandy beach with much smaller crowds (it's our favorite!) From the main parking area and historic farmhouse, walk the Beach Barrier Trail which takes you through several different types of environment (fields, forests, and marshland) before reaching Laudholm Beach. There are additional trails throughout the preserve and high tide leaves little beach so get there early!
